Connection recovery

Offline copy on this browser

When you are signed in, this browser keeps cloud-confirmed booklet and class-list copies for up to seven days, then removes them the next time Record Book opens or checks the cache. This lets the current teacher reopen work during a temporary connection loss.

The confirmed copy is scoped to the signed-in ClassSlate account, but browser storage is not separately encrypted. Changes waiting to sync, conflicts, and recovery audit records are kept separately until they sync, are resolved, or you explicitly clear the recovery copy. Clear it before handing a shared device to someone else if your school policy requires that.

Protected old-copy review

Choose which old Record File to review

The old Record File copies need an explicit review. Nothing will be merged or overwritten until you choose. A combined safety backup can be downloaded first.

Choose the copy whose date and contents you recognise. The next screen shows exact before-and-after counts before anything is copied into V2.

Your existing booklet

Bring the old records into the new Record Book

This makes a verified V2 copy. The original Record File is left exactly as it is, and a JSON backup is downloaded before the first import.

Another device changed this same part of the booklet. Both versions have been preserved.
